Search Analyst – Searchme, Inc.

Searchme is doing some innovative things with search, and we are looking for someone with a passion for excellent search results to join our Search Quality Department. As a Search Analyst, you will improve Searchme’s vertical search results by providing the classification engine with good and bad examples of hundreds of different topics. You will also evaluate and help to improve the overall quality of Searchme search results. We are particularly interested in candidates who have search engine experience identifying spam.

Responsibilities will include:

• Building editorial training sets to be the basis of our categorization technology.
• Identifying and fighting spam.
• Analyzing search results to improve relevancy.
• Analyzing vertical suggests to ensure that queries are properly disambiguated.
• Working closely with the Engineering Department on all aspects related to search quality and ontology.
• Focusing on specific near-term projects as well as thinking long-term about the direction of search.

Ideal applicants will:

• Have in-depth knowledge of how search engines work.
• Have 3 or more years of experience working at a search engine, particularly as a Spam Cleaner, Quality Rater, Search Quality Analyst, Surfer, Web Editor, Search Editor, Relevancy Tester, Relevancy Judge, etc.
• Be sophisticated in techniques for identifying various types of spam pages.
• Understand the structure of the web.
• Be able to work collaboratively with different teams.
• Have the flexibility required of working in a startup environment.
• Have an advanced degree in Information Sciences or other pertinent fields.

Offices located near San Francisco’s South Park and also in Downtown Palo Alto.
